The intended audience for this self-assessment tool
is adult Boy Scout leaders, specifically Scoutmasters,
assistant Scoutmasters, troop committee members, Boy
Scout commissioners, and Boy Scout trainers.
This tool is designed to help you assess your strengths
and weaknesses regarding the current Boy Scout leader-specific
training courses. The assessment is completely confidential.
The only information collected is your Scouting position,
BSA local council, training experience, and Scouting
tenure, and your answers to the assessment questions.
No identifying information about you will be requested.
The tool is not in any way a test of your leadership
qualifications, nor is it a means of testing out of training
courses. The results will be used to target the training
needs of the general membership and to help the national
Scouting organization and your local council improve
their training courses.
Be prepared to spend 40 to 60 minutes to complete the
assessment. It must be completed in its entirety and
may not be taken in parts. When you complete the assessment,
you will receive a list of your three strongest skill
areas and your three weakest skill areas. You also will
receive the results of your assessment, including how
well you scored on the questions relating to each of
the official Boy Scout leader-specific training courses.
